BrandXPh Features, Power an Excerpt from BORDERLESS by Indrajeet Dasgupta

Once upon a time, your muscles defined power,
Then came the plants and machines, and then the cellphone tower.
Now, in the age of information, your muscles don't mean a thing,
The farmers now tend data farms, for data is the new king.

If you know a thing about others, you can sure leverage,
Think of knowing nations together, privacy no more a privilege.
So the powerful now are the ones that know both you and me,
More than our deepest friends, and they admit that with glee!

Knowing my secrets makes you powerful, so be it, my social friend,
May my powers be joined with you, till the very end.
For the real power is in joining ranks, dreams and shared vision,
Heed this, not a preach, the world needs our unison.

The poem focuses on empowerment and progress, it highlights the strength of mind over the strength of the body. Power, narrates the current situation of the digital world, communication, and social media. It has an underlining message, that we are moving towards progress at the same time there is a strong presence of the threat that we might lose some of the traditions and important practices of our culture.

There’s an emphasis on the value of our relationships with the people that surrounds us. The threat awaiting to be unveiled as everything that has been uploaded on the internet could be accessible to anyone that even the confidential details of a certain organization or nation may be hacked.
Modern technology promises a lot of good benefits and convenient practices along with infinite harm that surrounds it.

When it comes to the construction of the poem, it possesses a good rhyme scheme, each word has been placed carefully to send its strong and meaningful message. The words used per stanza is very relatable and straight to the point.
