COCA-COLA Philippines, as a brand is know to bring happiness to the people by providing fun and exciting activities like Coke Studio Homecoming Christmas Concert. December 7, 2018, Friday at the MOA Concert Grounds they held a free concern as a Christmas treat to their supporters.
It was expected to have a huge number of crowd who would want to show their support and wanted to watch the live performances. At first it was manageable, concert-goers are all in line, the crowd was being controlled accordingly to its respective gates. Everyone was surprised when Coke announced that there will be a delay due to technical issues. As much as possible COCA-COLA, PNP and the City of Pasay would want to make sure the safety and orderliness within the vicinity, however due to unruly behavior of groups of participants instead of delaying they end up rescheduling the concert by next year.
It was afree concert and everyone can surely watch even from a far and can still enjoy the performances since it was on an open venue. Personally, I'm wondering why there were participants who decided to jump over and pushed the barricades, and start misbehaving and throwing bottles to other participants. The organizers and PNP was at its maximum tolerance on dealing with such misbehavior.
On my personal note, we are all taught as a child to show respect to the host who invited us to their house. On this event COCA-COLA is the host and everyone was their guests, isn't it rightful enough for everyone to show respect and behave accordingly during the event? Let us not put the blame to the brand and the organizers, look around to see the wider picture and the reality of what's going on. We must understand that no one wanted what happened and the people behind Coke Studio Homecoming Christmas Concert prioritized the safety of the people. It would be hurtful if a tragic accident happened due to misbehavior of the crowd. Let's keep it in mind that everyone wanted to make sure that it will be a fun and memorable night not a tragic night. Who knows what awaits us if the organizers allowed the event to push through despite of all the effort control and manage the situation.
I know we were all tired about what happened waiting for the event but let us be thankful that they're more concerned about our safety and the company is responsible enough to do their best to make things happened and sort things out. Let us all bare in mind that there we're personnel who had hard time controlling the situation.
